I got some left ove money from chistmas, and want to buy some performance stuff for my 2000 dakota 3.9L. I was just wondering what do u all think is a better product, JET stage one chip, or a superchips micro tuner.

 

I have the jet stage 1 chip in my truck i could feel a little more all around power, but i cant really talk about other one

 

What other mods do you have?

 

nothin else yet, but ill prob buy an air-rade throtle body spacer at the same time

 

I would spend the money on an exhaust and Cold Air Intake before a chip. Also don't waste your money on the throttle body spacer, it will actually rob you of power.

When you get a chip if you're going to spend the money, get the Superchips. The Jet chips aren't worth it. Most people who have them complain that they don't feel any difference. The Superchips also has other features that you don't get with the Jet chip.

 

TB Spacers are a hosk, just like the tornados, they actually make you loose HP but you get the sound of a turbo.. woohoo.

It really depends on your other mods as you said you have no other mods then i would wait on the chip/programmer. Do exhuast and CAI first those are the best and cheapest ways to get power, then replace your heads and, get a stage 2 chip, all they really do is give you better Air/fuel ratios and make you use 89+ octane fuel, with my dakota 2000.. i got the hypertech programmer, and all it let me do was change my topend speed to 130, change my rev limiter +/- 500 and my tire size for change the guages, and set up a 93 octane setup. I got my truck dynoed with and without the programmer and it added 0 hp/tq. Only thing it really did was lift my govenor +15 miles. Do bolt ons and then get your comp flashed.. thats your best bet.
