Lately my dakota has been making a loud creeking noise almost and it is coming from the front end. When i go over bumps or just rock the truck back and forthwhen it is in park and i dont know where it is coming from could it be the shocks they are pretty old?

 

sounds like your front end bushings, try soaking the hell outta them with release all or wd40.

 

It's a Dodge, I thought they were supposed to make odd noises?

 

I agree with jonnymagnum get some penatrating oil and spray the bushings

you can replace them all with poly bushings. and that will completely stop the squeaking.

 

front sway bar bushings. Typical. They're cheap to replace, but I'd first pull them off and slap some grease on them. water resistant thick stuff, like boat trailer wheel bearing grease or similar. WD-40 isn't the best to use because it's a solvent and evaporates, so it'll remove whatever grease is left then dry out.

 

I realize this is an old thread but I have the same problem. I replaces the shoks because they where shot, I thought this would cure the creek, it did not. I read that wd-40 is not good to use on the bushings. How about some liquid wrench dri lube? It has a teflon type ingredient that stays behind after the carrier evaporates.

 

Just replace them. problem solved. Lube just makes them be worn out for longer

 

Lube finds the noise, thats all. After you find what part is causing the noise, replace it.
