Coolant system questions
My first question: I drained and flushed my coolant i seem to have forgot to drain the block. Where are the plugs to drain it? And i wondered why it only took 2 gallons...
How do you bleed the coolant system? I know that you take the cap off and run it for a while but that doesnt seem to work. A wierd thing is that when the truck is at normal temp, the radiator cap is cold, but the upper hoses are hot. I think i have air in my system because when im driving i get hot air, but then when i idle i get cool air. And it gets hot and cool on its own sometimes. Anyone got any good ideas?

RE: Coolant system questions
If I remember right on my old 2K Dakota w/a 4.7 I simply took the housing (2 bolts) off the motor where the lower radiator hose attaches (the thermostat housing)...I don't recall any drain plug and the service manual (still have the printed version which I'd be willing to sell) didn't say much about the procedure...

RE: Coolant system questions
When you place a garden hose in the radiator it pushes water threw the entire system including the block. I read in my manual that it said radiator cleaner isnt nessicary if you flush your system every 2 years.
Jonny has it right. Take the radiator cap of and rev it around 2-3k and it will pop air out.

That's all up to you but no I don't drain the block I just pull the lower hose.Just change your coolant at regular intervals and you'll be fine and as forthe original postersheat being colder at idle that is a good sign your heater core is beginning to become plugged check out this link and you'll be getting better heat after the flush. https://dodgeforum.com/m_640588/tm.htm
