Default electric fan for 4.7L

Hey all, does anyone know where I can get a fan that fits a 4.7L. I look around at summit and stuff, and I love how they have kits that are for V4, V6, and V10. But when there is a kit for a V8 it's only for 5.2L and 5.9L. Now, I'm not sure what the difference is when it comes to mounting an electric fan for different engine sizes. And btw, what advatages/disadvantages can I get out of an electric fan?

If you are willing to retro-fit other fans from a salvage yard,
both the

and Audi A6 fans have been good starting points.

A new Chevy HHR electric fan is also worth a look, and is inexpensive.

The controller is an important part:

flex a lite has the complete kit you are looking for.there is a lot of measurements you need to do to determine the spacing between motor and shroud. do you want a fan that pulls air or pushes air. also you will need to set up the electical with 45 amp relays. and if you need a probe to determine when to turn fan on or off, or wether you will do it yourself. they say it frees up horsepower but puts a strain on the electrical if not wired correctly

Don't you have to pull out the mechanical first to free up the hp? That itself looks like it'll take some time to do.

Keep in mind that the 4.7 mechanical fan is already a low rpm version:

quote

"In order to improve fuel economy, the new engine features a patented hybrid cooling fan system that combines in-line electric and engine-driven fans. This system allows the engine fan to idle at a very low speed (250-300 rpm. vs. the typical 650-700 rpm.), decreasing noise and vibration at idle and low speeds. The newly designed cooling system, with a high efficiency water pump and a secondary thermostat control, reduces power consumption by 12 percent (6 bhp/4.5 kW)."
