Stuff in the bed flying out?
Hey all, just a quick question. Once the weather warms up a little bit, I want to take off my tonneau cover and get a bed liner instead for the summer.
Just a question that i've been worried about. How easily does stuff fly out of the bed? For instance, If i were to have like.. a tow rope or somethin back there, or whatever just random stuff that i have at the time. Would it fly out? Or bounce out or whatever?
What about my backpack for school? If i just threw it back there, how likely is it that it will fall out?
Just driving around.. anywehre from 40mph to highway speeds of 80ish. Anyone speak from personal experience?

aslong as your not going higway speeds, nothing will fly out. even then, yu probly wont have too much of a problem with it. just make sure you put your stuff right behind the cab.
the only thing that flies outta the back of my truck is coffee cups when goin down the highway

I throw my backpack in the bed all the time in good weather. I drive 25 miles on the highway to get to school and it never flies out (or shifts at all really).
Tie downs are another story though. It seems that sometimes mine fly around alot, and other times they don't move at all. I keep the ratcheting tie downs in my bed sometimes... usually only if both ends are connected to tie down points. They seem to move less when they are in the front of the bed near the cab as opposed to the rear by the gate.
Why would you want to take off your bed cover though?

I have a Quad Cab with a toolbox behind the cab, I have items in the bed going down the freeway 75mph and have never lost anything yet.

it depends where you put it, how heavy it is, and how big it is. A cardboard box right behind the cab wont fly out because of the vaccume pressure that occurs right behind the cab. if you put it right by the tail gate it might fly out.
I bought a black hard plastic bid at Walmart, It was a Contico Pro Tuff Bin. It has a hole to put a padlock on it. I strapped it behind the rear window, and it worked great. I also took a bike lock and attached it to one of the tie down bars in the back of the bed, so no one would steal it.
