Default what time of year

Are there any dealers around? I want to trade my truck in. I'm just not sure what time of year would be best to do it. I have an 01 regular cab dakota, 2wd, automatic, with about 36,000 miles on it. I would like to trade it for another 2nd gen dakota 4wd, standard, crew or club cab. Can anyone help me figure out the best time of year to trade it in. I live in Pa where all I see are lifted 4wd's. Some years we get alot of snow but the past few years we have been getting crap. The dealer I bought it from didn't want to give me a whole hell of alot for it. I owe like $8500 for it yet.

hmm, you owe pretty much more than it's worth, no way you're going to get enough on trade to pay off your loan.

I would sell it 3rd party, pay off your loan, and then put a down payment on a new truck

Yeah, unfortunately dealer retail in good shape is about $8800, and they're going to need to make 2000-2500 on the trade, so you're looking at just over 6000 for trade in value. Private party is going to be a hard sell, you might be able to get 8000 for it.
