hitch reciever
Hey all just another question ive tried everything i can think of to solve this. When i bought my truck it had a trailer hitch in the 2 inch reciever which i thought nothing of, but i went to pull it out about 3 weeks ago and it didnt come out, of course this is after i cut the bolt that was holding it in place off with the sawzall, so i tried using this nut buster stuff we have which is supposed to dissolve rust, but it didnt work, i dragged the truck across the back yard on the come a long to try and pull it out, and tried to heat it up with the acetelene torch and pull it out, nothing has worked, i really do not want to take the hitch reciever off, but i dont want the hitch that is in it either i have my own that i want so any ideas on how to get it unrusted, or out w/out getting a new one would be appreciated. thanks alot
just to check..the pin is out and the receiver is stuck...tow something around town for a bit this should listen it up...the heating is a good idea but it sounds like its so tight that you are just heating both the hitch and the reciver...
yep that is all correct but i really dont have anything to tow around that i could do reasonably so thanks for the idea ill see if i can find something, but any other ideas would be great
do not hook it up to a tree and drive forward to try to pull it out. it will not work and will dammage more stuff in the proccess.
I would take a mini sledge hammer and start hitting it every direction. then I dont know if the back of your hitch is open, but if it is, take a piece of steel and stick it in the hole where the hitch is and start whacking it out. I had to do that on my 74 F250 and that worked like a charm
if your hitch is not open at the back. the start hitting the ball nut on the bottom of the hitch and that should make it come out.

thats my guessthus the tree idea...i didtn say yank it out, "PULL" it out...this wont damage it anymore than pulling a trailer

i do not know if someone backed into something with it, asthe hitch was int he truck when webought it,we speculated that they did, i have tried hitting the ball out, and the back of it is closed
unfortunately, but i will try the ball nut from underneath and let you know how that goes, if you have any other ideas im still open to them as i dont want to have to replace the hitch reciever

yea mine had a blot through it that had a nut rusted onto it so i cut the bolt off with the sawzall,
and then tried everything else, but to no avail ill try pulling it out with a trailer or something this weekend if i can, but i kind of was hoping for an easier solution
