Different wheel options are different. Some OEM wheels come 15x8, 16x8 and 17x8 (IIRC the R/T wheels are 17x8, someone correct me if I am wrong.) Also, I don't believe that any wheels came from the factory with a width of 8.5.

your factory rims are 16x8.5 they can handle a tire as big as 315 75 which is equivialent to a 33.5" tire but if you use that size tire you will need a 6" lift kit but on a stock dodge dakota you are able to run 265/75 tire without rubbing...

most aftermarket wheels for these trucks are 8.5 some 15s i think are 7..

what backspacing is needed for 16x8 wheels on a '03 4x4 with 265/75/16 tires??
will 5in. backspacing work with no rubbing? or should i get the ones with 4 1/2 backspacing, I just found 4 1/2 backspacing 16x8'son jegs.
im looking at getting Cragar soft 8's in 16x8 with Maxxis Bighorn 265/75/16's on them

with the stock 16inch wheel you can goto a 265/75r16 without modifications but you have to assume that the bigger (wider and taller)the tire size compaired to the factory size willeffect the odometer and drivability (most dont handle the road well and to get them to run square you have to drop air pressure in turn decreases gas milage)
