how can i grease the front axel though and not just the joint because the mechanic said the axel is dry. I figured i was going to have to pull the axel out from under the truck then debate on replacing the entire thing depending on how it looks because i dont know how long its been dry

Not seeing your axle it's hard to say but he probobly ment just the joint. If the joint really is DRY then yeah it's shot. But like virused said it's a lot cheaper that the whole axle. Try it if it works great if not your only out the cost of the boot kit.

You can just replace the boot you have to replace the whole axel/CV for the side thats bad.

wait my mistake you Can replace the boot, but your better off just replacing it. your just going thru the trouble take it a part to replace a boot. its still gonna go bad.

If you want to replace the boot any ways go to autozone or local part store and ask for a cv boot kit

i have no idea when it ripped thats just the thing. so if i can find a kit like 2000dakota4x4 was talking about i should be able to grease everything and get by for a while if i dont romp the living dog sh*t out of it in the mud.
