Front Axel
no i'm not taking it to a mechanici'd rather do my own work the only reason i had it at a mechanic in the first place is because i dont have the equipment to do an allignment. i think i'll just replace the boot and grease everything then drive it till it finally snaps. then replace the entire shaft. i'm just not going to romp the **** out of it in the mud
i'm going to clean the joint several times with diesel to make sure there is no grit in it before i grease it and put a new boot on. I havent been driving my truck at all since i got the news so its not like its getting worse day by day. Tomarrow i'm going to start cleaning it. I had to finish my rust removal project before i started on this cause i had some bare metal on my door and figured i better take care of that first. Rust is gone holes are filled and i have it painted. Just need to wet sand it now.
well yall are going to have to forget the front axel replacement tutorial. My CV was completly shot so i just replaced the whole thing. I started snapping pictures but then I broke off a bolt. and i needed some tools that i didnt have so i had to go buy them and the camera was just getting in the way. The good news is my truck is back on the road with a brand new front end. whole job took 7 hours with the luck i had.
wow! thats a long time...but atleast you have the pride that you did it yourself, and that you spent 100 buc ks instead of 600...
next time it will take ya 2 hours or so i would venture to guess!
