Default Air Bag Light

Well, I have an interesting one. As of late, when I turn my steering wheel all the way to the left, the Air Bag light comes on. I am going to have to see if the wires running to it are being stressed for some unknown reason. In the meantime, anyone ever have this problem?

Never had that problem in mine but my guess is that it's the clockspring. After all that is what keeps the connection with the airbag when you are turning your wheel. Actually a simple test for it would be to turn your wheel until the light comes on and see if your horn works. Your horn should be connected through the clockspring as well. If your horn does work when the light goes onthen it still might be the clockspring but you would have to do a few more tests.

The bag isn't going to go off. The module has to be tripped by two sensors before it goes off. I know that the bag isn't connected through the same wires as the horn but they are both connected through the clockspring. If you have an air bag light and the horn also stops working it's a sure indication that it's a clockspring.

Well the horn works while the light comes on. I am assuming the a wire has come loose somewhere in the steering column or in the steering wheel itself. Looks like a project.

with the light on, the airbag will never go off. any time theres a malfunction and the light is on the bags arent going to go off, even in an accident. same goes for ABS. the only time you have to be careful is during removal (which needs to be done to do the clockspring). disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes (the airbag system has a capacitor which stores voltage for a period of time).
