Default Looking for shocks

I have looked around and the best deal I have found for shocks is for the Bilstein HD's, and for all 4 corners its gonna run me just under $300 with shipping. Now, after saying all that, does anyone know the stock collapsed length, extended length, the valving, and the travel measurments? I was looking at a few other shocks, and I know as soon as I tell the company what I am driving they will tell me that I have the wrong ones. Any help is appreciated.

Hey Thunder and Josh:

How difficult is it to replace shocks on a 4X4 Dakota? Any chance that you can provide a step-by-step write up? Thanks.

i dont know about the front shocks on 4x4 but its the same easy procedure

jack up truck and remove wheel
remove bolts on shock
remove shock
put new shock in
bolt in new shocks to spec
put wheel back on

but if u want a more detailed write up this is what my Haynes Manual says
FRONT
"1. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Apply the parking brake. Remove the wheels

2. Using an open-end wrench or a pair of locking pliers on the flats of the shock rod to prevent the shock from turning, remove the upper mounting nut. Remove the retainer and bushing.

3. Working from underneath the vehicle remove the lower mounting bolts (2wd) or bolt (4wd) and pull the shock out from below.

4. To install the lower shock absorber, install the lower retainer and bushing onto the shock rod. Note: the lower retainer is marked with an "L"; the upper retainer is marked with a "U." Guide the shock up into position in the frame bracket, then install the upper bushin, retainer and nut. Note: Appl a non-hardening thread locking compound to the threads of the nut.

5. Intall the lower mounting bolts. Tighten the mounting fasteners to the to torque listed in this Chapter's Specs. (top-19ft*lb bottom 80ft*lb)

6. Intall the wheel and lug nuts. Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts to torque spec."
overall 4wd models look much easier cause u aint gotta go into the engine bay and deal with that cramped area.

rear is the easiest
just jack up truck, remove bolts and shock, put new shock in place and bolt in to 70ft*lb

you can actually keep all the wheels on for all 4 corners. just spray wd40 like mad on the rears.
