Question for everyone with 20" rims
Irecently puta set of 20" rims/tires on mya Dodge Ram. The tires were brand new when I got them and they are the Ram stock size of 275/60 20.
What I noticed initially was when turning if you hit a bump the rear end will kinda skip a little bit but I felt it was because of the larger wheels and tires. Then a few days ago whiledriving on the highway I drove over a bump in the road while turning going around 60 - 65mph and it felt like the rear end of the truck was going to come around on me.
Now I might be crazy but I am 99% sure my truck never did this before with the stock 17's. To be sure it was not a tire problem I swapped the rear tires from my Ram onto the Durango which are also the 20's. I noticed the same thing when going through the exact same area of the highway at a comparable speed.
My concern is where this D is primarily driven by my wife with the kids in the back is that this is just a bad combination. At the same time the new D's come with 20's stock but I think they are a 275/50 or 265/50, not exactly sure of the size but they are smaller.
Has anyone felt anything like this with their D with 20's? I am also wondering if this might be a suspension problem, maybe a case of bad shocks on yet another D?

The stability control never kicks in. From reading posts from other members it seems a lot of people are finding that their shocks are junk before they get to 30k miles. I am at 36k now and noticing that my shocks definately are not great. So I am going to put a new set in and go from there.
I have a 06 D 4X4 that came with 245/70/17. I put on 275/60/20 Ram wheels about a month later I started having the same issues with the bouncing rear end. Almost lost it a couple of times turning on a bumpy road at 45 mph. Thought it was the tires but it was the cheapy shocks put on a truck with a weight rating of 6,600 lbs. I have bilstein on now with no bouncing, excellent ride.
You do not have bad shocks like he does. You have the GOOD ones.

Hi guys,
I just bought an '06 Durango with the 18" stock wheels. It needs new tires, but my brother may want to upgrade his RAM which means selling some aftermarket 20" rims with 275/R60 tires. Sounds like this is the stock RAM tire size and also the size the OP put on his Durango. Can this size of tire be put on the Durango without modification (i.e. adjusting the torsion bar, etc.)?
Thanks!
