Exclamation Help !!! 2006 durango owners

OK Here's the deal:
I have a 2006 Durango 4x4 with the 5.7 Hemi

Every time I fill up, once the gas pump clicks off, gas spews from the fuel fill area. I have taken it to the dealer it was purchased from twice so far, & all they say is everything tested ok. My dealer is trying to blame all the gas stations, saying the gas pump pressure is too high. Has anyone ever heard of this problem?? Any & all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any & all help
Shaun

I say the dealer is full of it. I had A 2004 8 cylinder Durango for four years and now I have a 2007 5.7 Hemi Durango for close to two years without this problem. I have been to atleast two dozen different gas stations in close to six years. I would go to a mechanic that is not the dealer and then show them the receipt to reimburse you after the problem is fixed...

I am having the same problem with my '05 Durango Limited with the 5.7L Hemi. For the past month it has been doing this to me. Before it started spewing out, I had the problem where it would not fill up all the way. I could always fit another 3 gallons in before it was full. Now I have that problem and the problem with it spewing over.

Could these problems be caused by the tank not venting properly when filling??

I wonder if the rubber tube between the intake metal filler and the fuel cell fill tube is pinched. If this happens then this problem can occur.

Exclamation UPDATE on the gas spewing Durango !!

After about three trips to the dealer, they replaced the fuel tank. They said it looked like there was a problem with the check valve. The first fill-up went ok, but we will see. Now the message center is saying GASCAP, & the check engine light is on. The saga continues ........

This happens to us when we squeeze the gas nozzle so that the fuel comes out as fast as possible. I resolve it by going med/slow to fill the tank.

It's a PITA, but it worked for me so far.

That might help, but in NJ we can't pump our own gas !!! I was actually banned from like 2 gas stations for trying to do it myself. So here this is an every fill-up problem

I'm new here and also new to Dodge. My 06 I bought new as a left over. Bought it right but I'm beginning to be sorry with the purchase. I'm having the same issue with the fuel tank. Mine was replaced last Friday. Over last weekend. Same thing again, can't get fuel in it. It went back this past Monday in which its still there. They fell the new tank was bad as well because they checked everthing else. The new tank won't come till this coming Monday. I'm seriously thinking of getting out of the Durango and go back to my Imports. They run and run and run. Since 93 I've owned 6 Import trucks. This truck has been in more in the year and half I've owned it then all 6 of my past Import trucks put together. Sorry I'm just not used to this. My Truck is getting tied up for 10 days for a fuel tank problem?? Lord help me. How long if a tranny goes. Oh and BTW I hear they aren't that great either. Maybe you guys can help me feel different??
