Question About Plugs
Ok, I bought the copper champions plugs, YEAH THEY SUCK! Then I bought the BOSCH PLATINUM, I've had them in a week and my truck sputters and feels like it's not getting all cylinders at high speed. I'm taking these plugs back tomorrow and thinking about getting the Champion Double Platinum.
What do you guys recommend and what are you using? I'm not made of money and I don't want to spend a $100 on plugs. $50 TOPS!
Thanks!!!

Bribo:
While many folks have had issues with some platinum plugs, other have had them in and run them just fine.
On my 4.7, I pulled the OEM plugs at 28k, and went in with the Champion Double plats. RC12PYP. They ran fantastically for 50k.
When I pulled them last week, the gap was still .040 on 6 of them, and the last 2 were at .045.
I decided to go back in with the OEM RC12MCC4 plugs just for kicks.
Runs like a top at 78k.
How many miles on your rig?? BTW, while you are in there, remove the air hat on the throttle body, and clean around inside with a paper towel. I found quite a bit of black goo in there from the PCV system.

bribo, Gen1 4.7s reported do well with NGKs at the stock temp range or one range cooler. Also, many simply use another set of stocker plugs. I would assume the same for the Gen2 4.7 since the 2005 is before the HiPerf remake of the 4.7s. You could really never go wrong with stock plugs I'd say so you have that to always fall back on if the ones you pick don't work out. At $1.50-$4 each, you are still well within your $50 range.

Stay away from plats. I ran Bosch for 2 days and I might as well have taken a lighter to the money I spent on them. At least I wouldn't have wasted my time putting them in... Stick with OEM. I haven't heard much about NGK's myself but Indy does make his rounds so I'll buy it. I haven't had issues with my autolites. I would say they run about the same as stock so if you want to give those a shot the 4.7's run 3924's IIRC.

I put Autolite Double Platinum in my 04 Hemi and with over 35k on them now they have been a great replacement spark plug that will last over 100k. I pull several trailers (3500# + 6000#) all summer long with no issues. Personally I wouldn't use Champions in my lawn mowers much less a $40k SUV. NGK + ND also make great replacement plugs that are in my race bike and race car.
