mpg, what are you getting???
2004 3.7 fuel infected, i just did the average and i was shocked, the sticker said 18 around town and 22 highway, its averaged out to 16.02 mpg, and i drive 70 miles to work and back on the highway, heres what i put in it, i drove 244 miles and it swallowed 15 gallons of fuel
I have had my 2004 4.7L for only a month but with the two tank fulls I have put in it I have averaged 14.6 mpg and 14.8mpg on 85 octane. That is pretty much all city and a little bit highway. Of course I don't hot rod it either. But that is alot better gas mileage than my 4.7L '03 Quadcab which got only about 12mpg city.
Well... according to my Trip Computer... most of the time is 13.6mpg. The Max registered was 14.5mpg on highway.
I have the Durango SLT 2005 with the 4.7L engine

Regards,
I just put an K&N replacement filter in our 04 hemi. We went to Yellowstone and averaged 22.5mpg doing about 65mph which includes some mountain driving. In town average around 14.
I have been testing this out myself. I did a 420 mile road trip on a full tank. I have 4.7L 06 Durango. When I filled the tank, it only let me put in 20.5 gals, when the tank is rated at 27gal. Realistically, I would say I am getting around 16-18 combined with city and highway.
I am curious about the 27 gal tank though. How do they get that number? The low fuel light came on, but yet I could only refill around 20 gals.

I have the HEMI and with my own custom CAI, I get 16-17 around town and 24-26 hwy. Very happy, but I didn't buy it for the gas milage. Hemi: (HEM -e) adj. When you get a fuel light you have a reserve of 7gallons and you will see this when you keep driving and watch the Miles till empty on overhead will adjust after it clicks on reserve fuel usage. I like that feature, takes away the scare factor!!
An update to a previous post:
If I reset the trip computer prior to get into a highway, my 4.7L will reach 20.7mpg on a hour an a half trip (including som hills). Most of the time I keept it between 60 to 65mph. I have to ignore every jerk on my way to keep my MPG high. My tires are 245-70-17 (factory). They're thinner than the 265-65-17 so they create less resistance.
Now I have to test it under city driving but this is my Wife's little SUV for school driving, supermarkets, shoppings, family matters, while I'm at work with a Montero Sport 4wd at the parking (less power and firmer but a very good SUV).
