5.7 Hemi 2004-getting 22 mpg with 41,000 miles. At 30,000 I put in Bosch Platinum +4 plugs. No other mods. Went from 19 to 22 at 75mph.

2006 Hemi V8

In city I get 10-15mpg.

On highway towing a trailer I get 12-15mpg.

Highway travel I average 19-21mpg.

Cruising for optimum efficiency while on I-83S from Shrewsbury, PA into Hunt Valley, Maryland I managed to reach 25mpg cruising around 60-65mph. Of course as soon as I hit the city, went through the McDonald's drive-thru my mileage plummeted.

These Durangos are wild animals. They like to roam free and long distances. They don't do so well on mileage when cooped up in the city.

BTW...what is a K&N filter and where does one get it?

Note on fuel mileage. A friend of mine made an interesting discovery recently. He visited me in PA. And got really good gas mileage on his return trip. Better than he normally gets. We thought about and realized that Connecticut (our home state) switched from MTBE to Ethanol additive about a year or two ago. This appears to greatly affect mileage. I believe CT has 10% ethanol now in most of it's gas.

I realized this was probably the reason for the steep decline in my gas mileage for my Isuzu as well. It roughly corresponded to the change over.

So realize that if the gas you are using uses ethanol you will likely get a substantial loss in mileage performance.
