New to the site looking for advice
Hi I'm new to the forums and just purchased a 2004 Durango Limited w/ 5.7 Hemi.
First thanks to all the great info here I managed to fix the super loud whining noise(even louder than the engine), sounded kind of like power steering whine the dealer told me that's just how it sounds. But it was just a bad idler pulley, now she sounds proper with just a 10 minute repair!
Now I've never done any upgrades to a vehicle I've owned but this old girl is just begging for some!
So I ordered a K&N air intake, next I want to upgrade the exhaust and I'am thinking about an electric cut out switch such as this:
http://www.racelandus.com/p-68-racel...-remote-3.aspx
I'm a little concerned about clearance as I took a quick peak and it's pretty tight underneath, Has anyone here put one of these on their Durango? If so how did it work out?
Would the Catalytic Converters make a big difference if left in ahead of the cutout?

Also, am I the only one here that is anti-K&N? I mean, I've had atleast 6 different k&n's on different vehicles, and after driving with it for some time, I'd take the filter off and the intake is dirty with dirt and dust.... You may as well put a window screen over your intake and save the money.

Let me know what you find... I know you can gain noticeable power and sound, but not worth it to be sucking dirt and dust into the engine. I think the dry filters are generally better at filtration than the oil k&n types.
