I own an 06 4.7L durango. despite what alot of people say the 4.7 gets better gas milage in the city because MDS only kicks in really on the highway. I love my 4.7 it has plenty of power to tower a boat or other medium loads and the gas milage is around 3mpg better depending on how you drive. it just depends what you want to do with it. The 4.7 still has plenty of torque to tow, you dont need all the horsepower of the 5.9

 

The 5.9L (360 cid) is not available in the second generation, only in the first generation Durango,

What year does the Hemi have the MDS? I've seen a few 5.7's now, but there is no mention anywhere of any MDS system on them. They where 2007's and 2008's.

 

The 5.7L had the MDS from 2006 thru 2008, 2009 started using VVT instead of the MDS.

 

Which is better for MPG's? Power?

 

The 2009 had an extra 40 horsepower due to the variable valve timing, not sure about the MPG,

Do Durango's from California have any extra emissions stuff that I might not like? I know on 2nd Gen Rams, Cali trucks had extra o2 sensors and 2 cats. Just wondering.
