Dirt:
3 places to look for the axle ratio ID on your D:
#1. Sticker inside the glove box on bottom or back.
#2. White label on driver side rear axle tube behind tire.
#3. White label on front axle assembly from the bottom looking up towards the oil pan.
Failing these, email your VIN number to Chrysler customer care, and they will email you back a build sheet telling every option your D left the Delaware factory with.

yaa .. it is a 3.55 ratio , i just checked
so how much does that mean it is ok to tow ?
Thanks for any help . I will be buying another truck for pulling this , but for right now i am hoping to be able to pull this without killing the durango ..
i bought this for the wife 2 years ago , ( family vech ) Never intended for this to pull anything .(well maybe 2 sleds )

Your 4.7 would not struggle so much if you had the 3.92 gears.
Several D owners have come to the consensus that the 4.7 motor should have come standard with the shorter gear. The mileage penalty is small for the added ease in getting its girth moving.
My previous 01 D also had the 3.55s, and since I towed very little it was not an issue for me.
