How to change spark plugs on a Durango with a Hemi yourself
My Durango was due for new plugs according to the maintenance log (30,000 miles). I went to the local Dodge dealer and spoke with the service manager. He said you had to remove the brake booster to change out the plugs and it would cost $225! I decided to try it myself.
Tools I used:
3/8" ratchet, 3 and 6" extensions, 3/8" swivel, 1/4" ratchet, 2 and 6" extension for the 1/4" ratchet, 1/4" swivel, 10mm socket, swivel spark plug socket with rubber insert and one without rubber insert (no swivel).
All you have to remove is the air inlet, which involves loosening a couple of clamps.
The 1/4" ratchet and accessories is for removing the coil packs. That can be tricky as you have to lift and twist them to get them out of the holes and to avoid hitting other stuff.
For the plugs, I used the plug socket with the rubber insert to loosen and remove the plugs. For installing the plugs, I used the socket with the rubber insert to lower the plug in and then tightened it 1 or 2 turns and pulled the socket out. Sometimes I had to push against the side of the hole with the extension to keep the socket from coming off of the extension. I then took the socket without the rubber insert and finished installing the plug. I couldn't get the socket with the rubber insert out of the hole if I tightened the plug all the way. It kept coming off of the extension.
I would work off/on on this project and it probably took me 3-4 hours to finish it. But having $200 bucks in my pocket was worth it.
I'm not mechanically inclined by no means, so if I can do it, you can do it too!

Fuse location for the 2004 thru 2009 HB.
04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Fuse Locations and Types/Specifications
SPECIFICATIONS
CAUTION: When replacing a blown fuse, it is important to use only a fuse having the correct amperage rating. The use of a fuse with a rating other than indicated may result in a dangerous electrical system overload. If a properly rated fuse continues to blow, it suggests a problem in the circuit that must be corrected.
NOTE: If you are leaving your vehicle dormant for longer than 21 days you may want to take steps to protect your battery. You may do this by disconnecting the battery or by disconnecting the two ignition-off draw (I.O.D.) fuses located in the Auxiliary Power Distribution Center (PDC) located in the engine compartment. The I.O.D. cavities include a snap-in retainer that allows the fuse to be disconnected, without removing it from the fuse block. Pressing the I.O.D. fuse back into the cavity reconnects it.
Interior Fuses
The fuse block contains blade-type mini-fuses, relays, and circuit breakers for high-current circuits. It is located in the left kick panel. It is accessible through a snap-in cover.
