noise in Durango front end
I have a noise in the front end of my 2005 Durango. It comes and goes for long periods. Might pop or crack all day and the next day it's gone for a week. I can feel it in the steering and passengers can hear it too. Sounds heavy like a frame or steering part. Can't ever get the shop to hear it because it will go away. Any help? thanks, Don

Our 2005 has done the same thing since almost new. Dealer has thrown parts at it, but nothing has fixed it. Other garages couldn't determine the cause either. I suspected it might be one of the shocks and yesterday the noise got worse and now the truck is acting like a shock is blown.
I've heard about the swaybar bushings in the past, but we haven't replaced them yet.
I'll let you know what I find with the shock.

Here's the things I changed to get the front end sounds to stop. Shocks, lower ball joints ( probably not your problem if sound isn't consistent ), sway bar bushing, sway bar link bushings, and the driver side sway bar link itself ( the ball joint on the link was loose ). Also make sure that your control arms are not hitting the bump stops, you can see the mark it makes on the control arm if it is, if so you will need to have the torsion bars cranked up a bit.
