Default dodge durango 2004 SLT LIMITED Hemi.

Hi there I'm new in this forum and I need some help with this car. Recently the engine, seat belt, abs & lightning light came on. Took it a dodge dealer told me pay $100 to diagnose. Now they did a simple test and the mechanic said it gave him 7 codes. Can someone help me please? I am not having any other issues excepts for the light. What am i looking at here with these lights. My nephew can do the repair..Thank you..

Welcome to the site. I will move this thread to the second Generation Durango section. Turn the key from 'off'' to 'on' (not run), off to on and off to on and then look at the odometer. I will flash a P---- code or codes then will flash 'done'. Post those P codes,

Welcome to the site.

Or go to an auto parts store and get them to connect their scanner to the truck and tell you what the codes are. Write them down and bring them back here and post them.

Yup, that same test that the dealership charged you $100 for will usually be done for free by most auto parts stores.

FBMom:

How old is your battery?

Our Durangos as as well as most Chrysler/Dodge vehicles are very sensitive to a failing battery. You need to have it load tested, and replace if it tests the least bit flaky.

Really weird things like you are seeing can happen in this case................Don

I purchased the car last year in feb, dont know if its the original battery or not. I got the auto zone guy scan for the codes and these are the ones I got,P0572,P0440 & P0441. I also had him do the test for the battery & the alternator he said the battery is ok it came up between 14 & 15. the alternator he said is also ok, but he explain that the lightning light might be something between the alternator and the battery connection so i dont know. The abs he said its a breaklight switch.. So what do you guys think?

The 2004 had a recall for the instrumnet cluster and I think it made the interior lights go crazy and pose a fire hazard:
