You are 100% correct. It is butt ugly.

 

And, you are a good friend...friends don't let friends do ugly things. This includes talking with the opposite sex in bars late at night after a session of heavy drinking.

You should let him get it, then ram into him to see if it works!!! With a little luck, that China made thing will brake and fall off. Your friend will then have it out of his system of getting ridiculous things and putting them on his vehicle.

 

I can see ugly if it's functional, but that thing IS ugly and looks like about the most it'll protect the rear bumper from would be a runaway shopping cart...
