2004 Durango's engine misses when it rain or goes through the car wash?

Well, after the shop replaced the cowl panel, the problem still existed. They replaced one of the fuel injectors and this fixed it. Just passing on the info. in case anyone else needs it!
Thanks,
Lisa
The shop had to replace the fuel injector in addition to the cowl panel. I think it was more the injector, but at least I don't have to worry about water running down onto the coils.

Hard Starting After Rain or Carwash??
I saw similar problems in some Rams or Durangos and each car almost had different problems.
On Durango I found cluged windshield water dain. I removed wiper arms and windshield grill cover ( be carefull with spray nozzles hoses )and cleaned under area dirts and should have drain hole somewhere make sure its open water does not build up and drain top of your ignition and fuel system connectors and ecm located on firewall!!
On Ram same problem had weak coil and pretty bad spark plugs and watch where you buying your gas!!

Why would water getting through the cowl make the engine miss unless something else was bad ONE HINT the intake is leaking and water is getting in when it is dry it is an air leak and the computer compensates by adding fuel. I had a long block put in mine in January for other reasons and the missing stopped even in heavy downpours the shop told me that there was an intake leak and that is what caused the missing in the rain. think like a real person the jeeps with hemis have fording kits as options and they don't miss when partially submerged this engine has numerous problems so when I got my new block I made sure the remanufacturer addressed all known problems and guaranteed it for 4 years

Replace the intake manifold gasket and it will stop happening. It took having a new engine installed to figure this out. the Computer will make up for excess air leaking in but when engine vacuum sucks in water it misses. My mechanic an ex drag racer discovered this when replacing the long block. What we really need is an aluminium intake manifold to replace the plastic junk that mopar put on it if anyone knows where to get one. BTW I never touched the cowl it is still leaking on the engine with no effect even in the worst storms that used to almost stall it out. To me this cowl thing is just like the Toyota floor mat thing (Blame something simple for a major computer glitch) A quick fix might be to spray the intake to head seal area with the as seen on TV water seal and see if it stops. Think about it an engine should be able to get wet with out anything happening. Ignoring this will cost you an engine. (about $4000.00 plus installation) I know mine is cured and I can spray the garden hose directly on the engine without any sign of a miss now I still have original coil packs, wires and cowl

wait, wait, wait, whoah, hold on there. You're saying the Hemi doesn't have a "metal" intake manifold or it's metal but not aluminum? Are you saying that it warps just enough to let water in? Not sure why we'd need a new intake manifold if the gasket solves the problem?
They sell performance intake manifolds that are aluminum. Not sure $1000 or more is what I'm after though. Maybe that's what you are saying: Dodge should have put that on from the get go?
Just trying to clarify. Thanks.

All the performance manifolds I have seen were for carburetors on crate engines not for the factory fuel injection I want to still pass emissions and not have to change the whole truck to support a carburetor I assume the computer would have to be changed to support shift functions with a carbureted engine and God knows what else
