40 HP seems gain high to me. I have 4.10 gears in my Coronet and they are are a bitch at cruising speeds (3 speed 727 transmission) although it does not have an overdrive gear. I would see if anyone makes exhaust headers and cat-back system with the tuner,

Not on a Durango, but my dad has SC in his 08 Ram. It made a big difference, much more than on my 07 D. Honestly, 40hp at the wheels seems very legit. I do not have dyno results, but it is very noticable.

Default Gears

The lowest gear you can put in thw AWD Aspen/Durango is the factory 3.92's the 410 wont fit in the front axle. 2 WD's can take a 4.56.

The SC will add 48hp but its not on top of the 310 HP its taken at a different RPM and at the greatest differnece of the 2 power curves. Example at 3300 stock is 216 HP but with SC its 254 hp. Also the torque is not a 50ftlbs more total or peak.

Many claim the SC wakes up the 08+ 4.7L more than jsut about any other motor. Huge gains but again you wont have a 360HP motor.

Put on a CAI, Exhaust, SC and if oyu have 3.55 spend $2000 on 3.92 and thats about all you can do without tearing things apart.

Option 2 get a Hemi..........

Default SC

No not yet. I would like to and get the tranni shift option but with 30k still left of warranty I'm worried it wil void the warranty. Several local Dodge dealers have a bulliten at the service desk that any "tune" will void the warranty.

For a dealer to void or not honor the warranty, the have to PROVE that the "tune" was installed AND that the tune caused the problem.

Mike,

Waiting until your warranty is expired is a good idea. What Glass said above about proving you had a tuner installed and caused the failure may be technically true, but it is far from what you want to happen in cases of failure. The reality is that if you have to take the vehicle to the dealer for any reason you will have to take the tuner out because you never know if the dealer is going to note that you have a tuner installed, which can come back to haunt you even if the current failure is not related to the tuner and the dealer covers it. Will the next failure be blamed on the tuner then?

As far as proof, if the dealer says it is related and you think it isn't, many dealers will not warranty it because they are afraid of being charged back for the repair later by Chrysler. Or maybe they would rather get the customer pay time and labor rate as opposed to the warranty time. So what will happen is you will have to do all the leg work to prove it is not related and you didn't have a tuner in it. The dealer isn't going to say "oh yeah, we can't prove it, your right" and do the repair. They will simply say no and leave you to jump through hoops.

You can read many stories on these boards about good dealers, bad dealers, and indifferent dealers. Some would not care that you had a tuner, some won't touch it under warranty if it does, but one thing is certain and that is that you just never know which type your going to get in any particular instance. Maybe your traveling and break down and have to go to a different dealer. You just have to weigh what you think is best for you.

Default SC or any tune

While the tune can be easily removed try explaing why the computer has been flashed/reprogrammed 5 times since last spring. Thats how they get you.
