Welcome to DF
You need to repair the leak before you do anything else. Thats why it won't shift, because the fluid is too low.

I was going to suggest a cable problem. Was it hooked up correctly? Has it disconnected? Obviously, first things first, like the proper transmission fluid (ATF+4) at the proper level as suggested by master tech.

Thanks for the replies. I was told that the front seal was where the leak was. So I had it changed, now I'm told that the transmission or torque converter went out in the process of changing the front seal. I did have problems with the transmission slipping, could the front seal cause slipping or was the transmission going out anyway?

A transmission leak over time will cause a lot of other problems. If you let it for a while, sure you could torque converter problems or burnt clutches and band.

Bootheel:
How many miles on your Durango and how long have you had it?

If you have have paid for a recent repair that did not fix it, you need to go back to them and have then make it right.

I do not mean any offense, but so far the short responses you are providing along with a lack of basic information could lead folks here to think you are a troll.

Hopefully this is not the case, and we can help you IF you take the time to help us help you.

Do you know if the shop did a quick learn on the transmission? That is maybe why when slowing down, it jerks.

You are too low on fluid, make sure the engine is warm, running and trans in "N" (E-brake on) and check the fluid level. My guess is you are 2-3 quarts low on the stick. Your torch converter may have bleed back into the pan and/or you have too low of fluid in the valve body.

The jerking (post seal replacement), with no shifting issues prior - tells me you have:

1) The wrong fluid type.
2) Not enough fluid.
3) Something clogged in the valve body.
4) Filter installed wrong, clogged. Make sure the intake port it not restricted into the valve body.

If I was a betting man, I would guess you do not have enough fluid.
