Thanks for all the info everyone.

The only complaint my wife has is the trim level of the one we looked at look kinda cheap. We are going to check out a few more. The main thing was the wood sticker on the dash.

You (or dealer) can change that, even have options like Carbon Fiber, Silver, Chrome, etc.

Take your time, and you will find the right one. It took me a number of months to find the Durango I now have.

If you want the better interior, stay away from the ST and SXT models. You will want to focus on the Limited and SLT models.

I had three Durangos sell out from under me before I could get to them.

Both the 4.7 and 5.7 engines are good engines. The 4.7 will get you an extra 1 or 2 mpg on tHe highway as long as your not towing.

I love he power of the Hemi though, and the extra 100 HP does not change the mpg much most of the time.

As mentioned, the early (04 and a few 05) Hemis did have severe issues.
If you get an 06 or newer Hemi, you will have the MDS cylinder shutdown system which can return 20ish mpg highway sometimes.

Yup, if you stay off the throttle, 06+ HEMI engines will net you a MPG or two better on the highway than a 4.7 usually, but the 4.7 will net you a MPG or two better in town.

If money isn't an object or there is no price difference, go for the HEMI.

Thanks for all the info. Most of our driving will be in town so the 4.7 is all we really need.

We have found a few she likes but with kids, church, school, work and daily life we haven't gotten to test drive one yet. Goal is to drive 5-6 diff ones before we pick one.

The front ends were changed in the 2007 models years regardless of the engine size....not sure if I mentioned earlier,

I drive my 5.7 (which ticks btw, watch for that) about 500-1000 miles a week for work...I get a solid 18mpg 2/3 on the highway. I get bored driving it until I get mad and pass someone, then it livens up, my mpg drops 1/2 a point for a day or 2 but it's worth it.
