I would probably go for a supercharger before a turbo - less problems with underhood heat, less need for an intercooler, and immediate throttle response. I've seen some nice Vortec superchargers on Chevys and Fords, but I don't think anyone has put out a 5.7 Hemi supercharger kit yet... Yet... Maybe soon!!

See ya on (or off) the road!
There is Paxton supercharger kit available for the 04+ Durango's. It is sold through GS Motorsports here's there link http://www.gsmotorsports.com/Merchan..._Code=HMIDURSC

i've seen a pretty long program and third party testing of this STS system. It delivers quite the punch! By mounting the turbo at the back of the car, it keeps under-hood temps down quite a lot. Also the intake for the charge side of the turbo is at the back of the car so it's getting much colder air than from under-hood.

I believe they claimed like a 2-3 lbs of boost loss from the turbo to the intake manifold. I would love to get one on my first gen

This is a demo from Horsepower TV http://videos.streetfire.net/video/a...9000e3a63d.htm

and http://www.ststurbo.com/testimonials The testimonials may be BS (i never believe what they say), but there are links to vids of trucks with the kit installed. dark blue Z71 5.3L GMC Truck has a couple great videos

hell yea tex! I'd love to have a rear-mount in my 1st gen 3.9. Maybe around 8-12PSI? How plausible is that? I mean we all know mopar engines loooove lots of air!

Hey all this is my first post here so be nice. I have a little experience with turbos, and there is a reason why all high performance cars have there turbos close to the engine.

The reason you may not be experiencing lag is because of several reasons.

1) Small turbo

2) low psi

3) undersize the pipe for a long run

The point being is that no matter what, whether it's liquid or air, longer the run the more loss of PSI. It is physics.

Also I am curious how or if you calibrated the ECU. I assume you could probably run less then 8psi and be just fine. Did you steal any toys from the "Tuners"? You have peaked my interest, but I feel that there maybe some engineering flaws.

Oh yeah, heat is heat, you are going to either melt you hood or your bumper!

Edit: Ok, I have read a little more on the subject. Needless to say Perhaps I am too big of a skeptic. Show me a price and I may show you some money. By the way, I work with a lot of different people at the Kokomo trans plant. They all seem to be interested in seeing me pull up ina HEMI turbo!

UPDATE

I checked more into rear mount turbo for the 5.7 HEMI. With an intercooler you should be able to push 7psi without mods(meaning stock fuel pump and injectors). Without an intercooler about 5psi. The turbo they are specing outo is similar to a t3/t4(actually they recommended a 60-1p trim). Total package was $2995. Now this doesn't include pump, injectors, programming, nothing but basically hardware and K & N goodies along with oil sump. Depending if there was a group buy, I would assume if you wanted to take the time you could but all of the essentials for half. I could be wrong, but I once built a high 10s mitsu GSX. Mind you the intercooler, if you want one, would be pricey.

Here is my best guess on costs:

Turbo from PTE $700 (Im guessing the CFM would be around 575-625)
piping $200
t-bolts $60
couplers $60-70
BoV $150-200
AFC(piggyback) $300
Boost controller $10-300
remote oil sump $$?
I would recommend an external wastegate as well $200-$300

Mind you, you can ebay a lot of this stuff and knock off maybe 10% or so. Also, you are going to need someone that knows how to program your AFC (you go lean you go boom). If you need more detailed info drop me a line.

A local has the STS on his C6 vette. It's very nice!! a t3/t4 is similar to the size of a stock SRT-4 maybe a little smaller. Max boost I ran was 23 spike then 17 to red line. I traded my SRT-4 in for the Durango a few weeks ago. You can run whatever boost you want to by a EBC, MBC or wastegate actuator. However, that doesn't mean the turbo will be efficient at high psi levels. A 60-1 is a great turbo because full boost will not kick in till 3-4000 rpms which saves fuel until you spool up the turbo. My .02 cents nothing special.

A Water/meth kit might be something to think about also. Acts like a high octane to keep knock down. Helps to keep the computer from pulling timing.
