Default 2004 5.7L Durango Stalls in Rain

Have an '04 5.7L Durango that stalls in rain. It only stalls at stop or rolling speeds under 10mph. It may be pouring rain but as long as the Durango is moving there is no problem. Appears to be an issue of water getting into engine and fouling some component just can't figure out which one.

I've researched the prob and several people have experienced a similar problem. The fixes that have worked for others include: changing intake "O" rings; re-torquing/changing intake gaskets; changing spark plugs/wires.

There apparently is a TSB calling for replacement of the hood cowling to stem water draining from windshield unto engine but those that have had their cowling replaced said it did not fix the problem.

Just wondering if anyone has successfully corrected this problem with a fix other than the ones listed above.
Thanks!
Mike

The cowling leaks at the base of the windshield causing water to drip on the back plugs.

There are a few threads about this same problem due to the cowl 'leaking' and coil packs getting wet,

Thanks for your replies. Saw some posts about the cowling before I posted but the posts I saw stated altering the cowling didn't help. Must not have found the posts you are talking about.

Did another search on the forum and still did not find anything about the cowling leaking onto the spark plugs...

Update: Searched your posts fascistfaction and found the link...thanks! The "D's" in the shop now, I'll tell'em to calk the cowling.

The Cowl TSB only applies to the 4.7l Durango because The Coil pack seal is poorly designed. They revised the TSB that includes installing some umbrellas on the Coil pack. The Hemi is different.

Yeah, the dealer said he couldn't find a TSB on the cowl. Checked out the cowl and there is a piece of rubber weather stripping along the top of the cowl that was tore up. Ran some water down the windshield and it just pored into the engine. Had the dealer calk it...should solve the prob...will test when I get a chance.

Thanks for your help!
Mike
