transmission issue
I have an 06 durango with codes po700 & po841.
it is acting funny when you shift into drive. I read you can replace the sump filter & the cooler filter & this may eliminate the problem.
Can someone tell me where the cooler filter is located? i have checked the cooler lines from the cooler to the transmission & see no filter anywhere. Is it inside the pan?

Actually, I took it to a trans shop & for $95 they replaced both filters & the fluid & the problem is gone now. They told me the filters used by Dodge tend to crack internally & that causes this isuue. It is fixed now. Thanks!

I believe the sump filter is the culprit in that situation. $95 is a good price for a fluid/filter drain and refill these days.
I think the dealer gets $165 or more nowadays.
The 7 quarts or so of ATF+4 is $7 each and the filter kit can be as much as $45.
You should be doing this every 50K if you drive normally, and 35K if you tow a lot and heavy.
Autozone has a really nice Duralast filter kit part #TF98 for the 45RFE/545RFE trans and they get $14 for it!
You also get the seal for the sump filter along with a pan gasket.
I recently used one of these and was very satisfied with the quality of it.
Dodge recommends RTV as a gasket, but I think its a PIA to clean off.
I will use the gasket instead.

Did autozone give you the correct gasket? I tried to get one from them and they gave me one that didn't have any holes and was to small for the transmission in my wife's Durango. I had to use RTV instead.
If Autozone did give you the correct gasket, what type of gasket it was it? (Cork/Rubber/etc)
Thanks in advance.
