2004 Dodge Durango - Overheating
I have a 2004 Durango with the 4.7 engine. It has 121,500 miles on it. 2 weeks ago, we noticed white smoke coming out the exhaust and a cylinder 8 misfire.. ok head gasket was shot. We talked to a dealer and they said the easy fix was to buy some stuff (not really sure of the name) and flush it through the system.
We had to completely flush the system twice, then add this stuff, fill it up, run it for 20 min, drain it, let it sit overnight, flush again, then fill it again and should be good to go. Good news, no more white smoke or misfire. BUT, now my truck heats up to about 3/4 and won't cool down. My husband was driving it home that night and it just about red lined on him, he pulled over and let it cool down, and was able to get it home after that.
We changed to thermastat, twice, and changed the fan clutch. The truck will NOT cool down even when driving down the road. It isn't leaking fluid anywhere, and we have tried multiple times to "burp" the system. Nothing is working
What are the chances that my water pump is bad?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
