Hi! I have a 2004 Durango AWD that I want to put running boards on. Paint on rear wheel well is getting blasted off with road debris. Question I have is I found a new pair of OEM running boards and mud flaps for a 2003. Will they fit mine or is the frame/size different. Any advice would be appreciated. Thansk!

iirc the wheel base is longer on the 04s which means that the ones off the 03 would be too short the answer to your question is no

I had a 2003 (first generation) and it smaller in every aspect compared to the 2004 (second generation).

Vehicle design features are often altered each passing model year. In your case, the chassis was changed between the 2003 and 2004 models. Most often these changes are in response to either customer demand or factors affecting material availability.

Sorry again that the 2003 mud flaps and running boards you've found will not fit on your 2004 Durango. I'm sure you will come across the parts that were made for your model year.
