Default trans problem wont go into gear

I have a 2005 durango 4.7 4x4 with 135000 miles. I was getting on the interstate and when it down shifted it never went into gear. no leaks and have never had problems slipping. I read that if i pulled the pan and the filter was off it could cause the problem but it was still on.

I did some more research and the transmission it has is 122520151P52119449AC which has issues with some filters and says Both the transmission cooler return filter and the transmission sump filter MUST BE replaced at the same time.

Is this a recall?
Could this be my problem?
If not any other ideas?

I am not very familar with transmissions but am comfortable doing the work with instructions if its going to save me some money.

Welcome to DF

The other ideal is the front pump and torque converter has failed. But first, make sure the transfer case in not in neutral.
