Default Car dies occasionally and wont start

truck dies at stop lights, it will stutter a little and cut off. sometimes it will start back up right away, others im stuck for 10 mins or so. Also sometimes it will not start after sitting for a while, couple hours. any ideas,

my thoughts, last person that changed the oil put in to much, the hose from the intake to oil cap, has kicked back some oil and it is on the air filter, replaced filter yesterday (2005 5.7 hemi), need to change oil tomorrow

also it had a new key made for it, my thoughts were maybe it was a bad key and it would cut off due to the transponder, but that would not explain all the symptoms

thanks

Mike:
How many miles on your D, and how long have you owned it?

You may be right about the new key having some part in this issue. How about your battery? Is it new or fairly new?
If not, have it charged and load tested to rule out any issues there.

Are you getting a CE light, and if so have you pulled the codes to see what they are?

I have seen this problem with the plug on the frame behind the drivers wheel not making a good connection. I would take apart and inspect the add dielectric grease then reconnect. I have ziptied them together to make sure there tight and also have even had to cut the fuel pump 12v wire off and go over the connector because it wouldn't keep a good connection. Just something to think about.
