Default Pass Airbag Off

On my 2004 Durango, when I start up the engine the SRS light says "Pass Airbag Off" even when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. It does go off after about 3-5 seconds. The light does not come back on at all, only when I first start the engine. Is my airbag turned off or is this normal?

The 2004 instrument cluster is recalled and can cause a fire. Call your dealer (or any dealer) with your VIN.
Go to www.safercar.gov for all recalls pertaining to the 2004 Durango.

Its normal. Turn the key, pass airbag off light on, after a few seconds the light goes off. If the light is off it means that the system is active. If you place a little pressure on the seat such as a bag of groceries or whatever - i think its 85 lbs or less the light will come on - pass airbag disabled - this is by design in case you have a child on the front seat.

Still check the recalls with your dealer.
