Default 05 Fuel Tank Filler Recall

I recently bought an 05 Dodge Durango and the fuel spills over after filling the gas tank. I know this was a recall several years ago. Not sure why the previous owners never had it fixed. Anyway, is there a time limit on recalls or can I take it in and Dodge will still honor the recall and fix it for free?

Call any dealer with you VIN and look at the quarter panel below the fuel door for rust.

I tried to call all the dealers around my area and they told me my vin# was not covered by the recall and said it would be $400-$700. Then about 3 months ago I got a letter in the mail from Chrysler saying it is covered by the recall. So I will be call them back.

Took my D into the dealer today for this very issue.

Take the letter with you. I got one in the mail too in Feb (been out of town traveling for work) and just getting to get this fixed. It just happens that the dealer I went to already knew about this issue. ... both parts and labor are covered (or so I'm told).

Picked up the D with no repair. The part is "weeks and weeks" on back order. I don't expect to have this fixed before August.

Craigg5,

If you are still looking for recall information, it can also be obtained by checking out this link:

http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.jsp

The website will let you know if there are any outstanding recalls on your vehicle after your submit your VIN#. Outstanding recalls are good for the lifetime of the vehicle and are no charge to the owner.

I hope this helps!

When a dealer looks up your VIN, the filler neck shows up on the vehcile info as a warranty extension. It may not be seen in the recall area. "Inlet check valve-unlimited/lifetime" is what it says if I remember correctly.
