Power windows died

Power windows died
So the wife was driving our 2006 Durango a few days ago and had the windows down and couldn't get them back up. None of the switches on any door would work but everything else worked. She tried holding the switch up while opening and closing the door, but it didn't help. Eventually she put it in the garage for the night(windows down).
Next morning she gets in it and turns the key on and all the windows rolled up on their own. Now they are all dead and won't go up or down. Atleast they are up now.
Any ideas? I'm out of town right now but I wonder if the BCM sensed a short in the system and locked out the circuit. Anyone know if that is possible? I've seen newer Fords do that when a tailight shorted out. After I fixed the short the lights still didn't work till I cleared the codes as the BCM had locked out the circuit to prevent damage.

I've got an 04 Grand and have this same issue from time-to-time. Check the wire harness that runs between the door and body of the truck for a broken or frayed wire that may need to be repaired.
If they are fine, check the ends of the wire harness in the drivers door to see if they have come loose, mine likes to loosen up behind the driver side kick panel near the door.
Hope this helps yah out,
Tony
