Default Would this fix my stalling problem?

Alright, here goes:

Wife's rig is an 04 Hemi Durango 4x4 with the "stalls in the rain" problem that seems to be common in that year.

For those who don't know, water from a rain or car wash runs down the windshield, under the cowl, and splashes right on top of the engine. Intake gaskets leak from age (and/or temperature shock from all this cold rain water on a hot engine) and suck in water, causing stalling and internal damage.

Spent some time searching for long-term solutions, not finding many other than "change your intake gaskets (and hope they don't leak again.)"

Dodge designed a new wiper cowl, but the new wiper cowl doesn't seem to fix it, caulking doesn't seem to fix it, and the intake gaskets are just a matter of time. So, here's what I'm thinking:

04 Hemis have an ugly air hat and resonator/baffle system on top of the intake, with the TB in the middle of the intake. Plugs and coils and the intake is all exposed in the engine bay. Later Hemis (06 and newer?) have that huge ugly cover over the engine with the TB is in the front. Plugs, coils, and intake are all hidden by this gigantic cover.

Is it possible to swap the intake from a later 5.7 Hemi and use that giant cover? That way, been if rain water does splash down onto the engine, it's hitting that cover instead of directly on the intake and coils.

Anybody done this? Any thoughts? I've searched and while there are lots of 5.7/6.1/6.4 swap discussions, none on the 5.7 air hat/big cover swap. Only thing I could find was this and it suggests it may work...

There is a lengthy thread about this already. I believe there is a recall on some models.

Do you have a link to that thread? I've seen a million threads about the intake gaskets and the water, but I haven't seen anyone propose my solution...

Right.

I've seen those posts and others, but none talk about changing the intake to the style used on newer Hemis, like the 06-08, which was my original question.

Does anyone know if the newer style intake will fit/work on an 04 Hemi?

No problem! I was just hoping someone had looked into this. I'm about 150 miles away from a true salvage yard (only places around here yank valuable parts and leave them on a shelf for you) so I may need to plan a trip and just see if I can two of the intakes (04 and 06) side by side to note the differences...
