Default Leaky cowl panel

After some research on here and s quick youtube visit.. I ordered the stripping from the guy and it works like a champ.. it was 38.05$ shipped to my house and took all of 30 minutes to install.. i pulled the wipers and cowl panel off and replaced the old torn windshield weather stripping with a much beefier and better piece.. no more leaks onto the engine.. well worth the time and money to save an expensive motor

Is this what would solve the problem I am getting with water getting into the oil? I was told it is a common issue with my durango and since I live in an apartment I don't have a garage to store it in...

No..this fix is for the water leaking into the intake and motor from the windshield cowl panel..if yours is the HEMI motor don't worry about the small amount of water in the oil fill cap.. It's just condensation.. The fill port sits so far away from the valve train that it doesn't get hot enough to evaporate. Many have had oil samples done and have come back negative for harm to the engine.. When you change the oil just clean out the fill port well..

The fix I did was for the cowl panel

If you are getting fresh water in your oil check your dipstick. It may have rusted at the block and allowing water to get into your engine. To repair or replace your dipstick you may have to remove your intake to get all the pieces out.

If you have the Hemi, get the updated cowl & new intake gaskets or you'll hydrolock & throw a rod...$9 gaskets are much cheaper than a $3000 Engine and $2000 worth of labor!.

Corwin, You need to remove the cowl and replace the seal against the windshield as well as the plastic push pins get the new ones from dodge that have a seal. Dodge has the new seal as well be careful removing the cowl as it has those plastic retainers that ten to break off. Use a long pry bar to work them up. Good luck

Well doing this will have to wait until the weather turns nicer and after I can figure out whether it is an easy 100$ reflash job or a 1300$ oil pump replacement....

+1 on replacing cowl and gaskets.

It's not just Hemis with the leaking cowl... The 4.7 has the same poor cowl and crappier coils that dislike the rainwater flowing on the engine. The TSB related to this issue was actually for the 4.7 at first because whatever coils they used seemed more susceptible to water damage.
