Cool Help with O2 Sensors

Hi.. New guy here. I have a 2006 Dodge Durango Limited. 5.7L Hemi Engine. Check engine light came on. Threw a code for Bank 1 Sensor 2 sensor. I decided to change them all. I went under the vehicle to change the O2 sensors... I have no problem with their location or removing them from the tailpipes. My problem is that the plugs that the wires plug into are sort of sandwiched between the top of the transmission and the underside of the console hump. Impossible to get my fingers in there to unplug them. Is there some kind of trick to do this or is this just really **** poor engineering on the part of Dodge? I really don't want to drop the tranny just to change the O2 sensors. Any help is greatly appreciated..

Just dodge doing what dodge does. Engineers HATE technicians it seems. Could try lowering the back of the trans a bit, and see if that helps.

Also, make sure to use ONLY NTK or Denso sensors. The bosch fellers, or other cheapo brands don't work well with Dodges.

That's about what I was afraid of. I'm thinking that supporting the tranny and then removing the back support for it, then lowering the tranny a bit "might" give me just enough space to get a pair of pliers in there to unlatch the plug so I can pull it out. What a stupid way to build something..... just a single inch more of wire on the harness would have solved this problem and made the job into 10 minutes. Now I'm faced with an hours work at best.... Ahh well, thanks for the reply and the info about the brand names ... much appreciated.
