Default P0700 & p0420 - 2005 5.7l

Hey All,

Looking for a pinch of help.

2005 5.7L. Getting a P0700 engine code, but not having ANY issues. Running great. Also have to P0420 catalyst code, which I don't think it related, but mentioning just in case.

Looking for a little help on the next steps on what I can do. I want to get rid of this code, one, so I can get the stickers legal, and two, so I don't cause any potential damage.

I've been creeping around this forum for a while, ya'll are awesome!

Thanks!

The P700 code is a generic code to let the tech know there maybe store or active codes in the control module for the transmission. The P420 code could be O2 sensors or a damage/plug cat. You will need a scanner the can read what codes you have in the transmission.

Thanks for the reply!

I bought a scanner that can read it.

It was a code for "System Voltage Too Low" - Seems to me that this may be the alternator.

As for the P0420, it looks like all 4 o2's are getting good voltage, so I may just have a bad catalytic. My scanner does the 'graphing' but I don't know what I'm looking at haha.

Thanks!
