Wind Noise with an '05 anyone?

I was actually going to suggest that. The same trick is used on trunks thinping bass. You adjust the catch loop downward away from the latch so it has to be pushed further down. The result is that the trunk or door is closed tighter so no vibration or wind noise occurs. I had the smae problem on mine and it took 5 minutes to fix it.

Wow, I was driving home from work today and the thought crossed my mind to search the internet and see if anyone had the same wind noise problem with their 05 Durango. Great thread and gotta talk to the dealer about the catch. I got mine in August 05 (Love it otherwise). Thanks everyone who contributed.

Sounds like a simple repair that they (Chrysler) spent more time/resources and money to try to argue about denyingfault instead of just fixing and moving on. Typical of corporate america these days. Glad that all of you were able to resolve the situation. As for the dealers that fixed it, good for them and pass the word, keep the press on D/C about the TSB though..

Well, I went to the dealership, armed with my knowledge, and I reported a wind noise problem. They said "oh there is a TSB on this". I went back 8 hours later and was informed that a tech. had driven the vehicle and there was, in fact, no wind noise problem. I was a bit disturbed by this butwas assured that if I wanted to take time off of work to drive a tech. around on a windy day they would reevaluate. Let me check my calendar..

Hi new here and thought that tis would be a good place to start. I had the same problem with my 05 but mine was caused at the dealership while having remote start installed, my therory is that the tech sliped and caugt himself on the door and sprung the hing. of course they said it was my fault, that the door got caught by the wind. I took it to a local trusted body man and he said that it was sprung a little bit and that there wasn't any adjustment to fix the problem without messing up the body lines, he then informed me that the a-pillar the hinges are bolted to are very weak and they have absolutly no support in that area. I went to another dealership and he basicaly confirmed this and I finally setteled for the striker adjustment. I also had the blue in the face, pissed off, just spent alot of money on this thing attitude. thanks for listening and hello, casey

I recently posted about my 05 Durango window noise problem. Since then I have taken it in to the Dodge dealer for an oil change. I had them look at the window/door noise issue. Guess what, the mechanic fixed it!!!!!!!!!! All he did was loosen up the striker or catch?(not sure if that is what it is called) that is located on the inside of the door jam. It's the metal latch that the door catches when you shut it. Anyway, he loosened the two bolts(screws), moved it over about an 1/8 inch, and retightened it. I watched him do it. I left and was so happy because it is silent now!!!! I AM SO GLAD!!!!!!!!!! He told me he has had many of them in for the exact same problem. He said it has fixed it every time he has had to do it!
I want to know in which direction did he move it over? Up, down, in or out?

I know this is a old thread but ...My wife's 05 Durango did the same thing , same noise , we took it back to the dealer and they installed new seals around the door and window ... that took care of the problem ( we have the 100,000 mile warranty).. the dealer said it is a common problem when the seals dry out and start to get hard. Hope this helps someone who has this problem
