Default Overheating.....

ok, anyone had issue's with their 04 durango w/hemi. The other day driving with the a/c on the temp gauge went up to H, and even the next day riding with the windows down & a/c off, still rose to H.
It's going to the dealer tomorrow. But was curious if anyone had issues and knew what it was.

thanks!!

Did you check the level of your coolant? If the level is fine, it could be your water pump is going out.

ok dealer was full of it. they didn't find anything wrong & said all was ok... But yet when it was 90-95 degrees out the other day.. we were riding in the car with the window open and on the expressway it was fine, but as soon as we got off and was in traffice it quickly rose to H... and then the next day again without the a/c on. temp gauge rose to halfway between the middle & H.
So now the truck is at another dealer that I hope has their head on straight...

You might want to see if you can upgrade the fan and maybe go with a 180 degree thermostat. I know that the 1st gen D's are able to be upgraded with a crown vic fan (I think its a crown vic fan) I know the other day when it was close to 100 outside I had my temp up to about 240 so I'm gonna throw a new tstat in on my day off and look more into this crown vic fix. Hope it all works out for you.

your cheapest fix would be to buy a new thermostat... if that dont cure the problem u might have a leak somewhere that went undetected... or third u could just have so much junk buy the engine that u are heating that up and when that gets hot ur engine will over heat.... i had the same problem with a '96 stratus and all it took to fix it was a new thermostat. hope this helps.

Thermostat, or you might need to have the trans filter changed and fluid. If the filter is plugged it puts hot trany fluid into the radiator. And as we all know oil is harder to cool than water. Remember that a flush won't clean the filter no matter what they try to tell you!
