Default New 2006 6 cyl vs 8

Hello everyone. I have a question about buying a new 2006 Durango. The best offer I have seen is an SLT with a 6 cylinder. I can get an 8 cyl for about 1200 more but it is an SXT. Beside the obvious horsepower difference, what kind of problems might come with the 6 vs the 8? It will be mostly for my wife and the 2 kids and I doubt it would ever pull anything. Have there been any problems with the 6? Am I going to have acceleration issues?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The 6 isn't a bad engine, just a tad small for something the size of a Durango. I wouldn't call it underpowered, but it's no more than adequate, and really should be "enough" for what you described. It'll have to work harder than the V8's, so fuel economy will probably be on par with the V8's, but without the extra acceleration.
