Default Radiator fan assembly

So my radiator fan went out, and I need a new one. The dealer wants $550 to replace it (and a control module for the fan...whatever that is). Is this a good price, or should I do it myself?

Also, the AC isn't cold, can I recharge the system or does it have to be done by a mechanic?

the rad fan is for your ac only and added extra cooling for when it gets hot. What they will replace it the fan assembly or called a module fan and shroud together. The ac wont work because the fan will not come on U poped a 20 amp fuse so i also bet u have a check engein light that came on.

Makes sense. The car overheated because I left it idle for about 25 minutes. Luckily I saw the steam, so I shut it off quickly before it caused any damage. Refilled the coolant and drives fine now, just gotta make sure I don't idle for an extended period of time.

So you're saying that once the fan assembly is replaced, my AC should also work?

How hard is it to change the assembly myself?

pretty much it was working br it over heated correct? U have a blown fuse right now because the motor is locked up or locking up when run for awhile. The new fan assambly fixes that issue.

oh to replace it u will need to suck down the ac system because the condensor and fan assambly comes out as one and then comes apart whne on the ground. So if u have an ac machine to remove the freeon and put it back in go ahead. Or i dont suggest that u do this but if u want to let out the freeon u have and take off the assembly and then go to a store and get how much freeon u need from them. U wont be able to put a vac on the system but its your truck.

I believe so. It all started a year ago.

Driving on a road trip, I heard a rattling sound from the engine. Upon checking it, I found that the right fan (looking forward) was off the shaft and not spinning (hence the rattle).

Last fall the AC stopped working, and the rattle stopped.

Then a couple of weeks ago, the car overheated, and now no fans are running.

What worries me is the part about draining the AC and refilling it. Not something I can do myself.

I’m also thinking of doing a radiator replacement myself. It came as a package, fan was included. It’s been a week with me and I’m still hesitant with the installation. Anyways, it’s for my other car. I bought a used Volvo as a spare. I took the Volvo radiator for it. I wish I could gather few tips to have it done soon. Oh… Good luck for the both of us. I’d love to read an update with yours.
