Default 99 2.7L Horrible Knocking

Hello! My boyfriend and I just purchased a 99 dodge intrepid, 2.7L for 100$. The lady told us that there was a horrible knocking noise. No kidding. So far we've replaced over half of the hydrolic lash adjusters, and we've replaced one of the rod bearings. We started it today, hoping the knocking would be gone, and low and behold!!! It's not. So what else can be done, Without buying a new motor? My boyfriend thinks that the rod bearing that we replaced isn't getting any oil pressure, but he's about fed up with it. Any ideas?

Sadly enough this is a common issue with the 2.7L dodge made a bad engine and never fixed it or recalled ect ect.
I have done a bit of research on the topic and from what I have read there is no real fix for it.

I ran into it with my 2000 and it only laster a day and have not had it since (knocks on wood).

But usually its said to have something to do with the well know sludge issue.
This forum has a thread about that heres the link.

If it has anything to do with sludge buildup you can try a good oil flush detergent. Sometimes it takes a couple of flushes, also if it is a really bad knock, you could have internal mechanical damage.

If the knock is coming from beneath the engine, it is probably worn bearings. Possibly a bent piston rod also. You may need an overhaul.
