hello guys i need some help here .. intrepid 2000 engine 2.7 ... ayways i have the engine light on n the code is p0420 catalyst but i think is not the catalyst cuz it doesnt make any loud noise what can i check first guys hope you guys can help me dont want to pay more money....

It may be a bad O2 sensor, but just because it makes no noise, dosen't mean it's not the cat.

Do you have emission testing in your state?

 

with a quality scanner, you can read the o2 sensor values and see if you have a catalyst failure. don't just guess and throw oxygen sensors at it hoping to fix the problem.

 

well m8 i been reading n the common problem is the 02 sensonrs but wheres is the bank 1 cuz the code p0420 means someting bank 1 n dont know what else

 

i aint no good at the text lingo but il giv it a go. p0420 means catalyst failure. IDK WT- no noise has to do with it cuz a bad cat dont mean a noisy cat it means it dont clean the exhaust no more

oooooo it could be bad or it could be just fine but w/o actually testing and diagnosing the problem you'll really never know until it's too late.

 

well the car is driving good the only thing the i notice the gas bro ... is this a bad problem..???? am sking cuz this is my first dodge car n i been reading the this car have a lot of problems soo am learning from u guys ..
