Default Dual Exhaust Question

Hey Everyone!

Well I am new to the forum but I am looking forward to sharing questions as well as putting in a new input into the neon forum. To start into things, I'd like to know if someone can help me out with this new exhaust idea I have.

Currently I own a 2000 Dodge Neon with many performance modifications as well as some excellent curb appeal. As of now, it has a Vibrant Dual Exhaust Axel Back exhaust system. I was king of unhappy with the look when I got it installed because they did a terrible job with making it flush with the bumper and from afar, it just looks weird the way the pipes come down, almost looks like a wishbone, and I hate it haha! Anyways, I have a short tube header on that is connected to a 3 inch downpipe into a 3 inch inlet and a 3 inch outlet that was meshed back into the stock 2.25 inch exhaust piping. My question is could I get away with running a 3 inch catback srt-4 exhaust system from the cat since I have a 3 inch cat? I understand it will not have a muffler and most likely will be very loud and illegal, but I would like to know if it would work. This system has the same size 4 inch tips as I do now, except it will tuck right underneath the bumper and give it the nice clean look I have been looking for. The system is 3 inches all the way through the dubs into a y pipe at the end into 4 inch tips, its designed for the Srt-4, but I don't see why it would not work, what do you guys think??

sounds like it would work to me and yup it will be loud....i just took my muffler off and its super loud...not loud enough to get pulled over by cops though....plus you got 3" from your headers back...I dont i still have the stock cat and header...your should sound "deeper"...go for it...

I think the srt exhaust will be really loud cus there are no mufflers i belive..I had a passetter header with a catback and it was pretty quiet..If you are gonig to go the srt4 route id look into some resonators to quiet it down a bit..

I don't know what type of power u have but if you're not pushing 300 hp plus then a 3 inch is too big.
Other than that, If u do go with the 3 inch, I'd also consider a resonator (since u don't have a turbo to quiet the exhaust).

just on a side note they probably didn't do a horrible job. i have a vibrant on my 04 and it looks the same. if you look from afar, it look like you could jump on and ride it. i am not much for how it looks, but it does sound very nice.

I really appreciate you guys giving my some useful inside suggestions on the exhaust. I am not completely set on doing the Srt-4 exhaust, but I just would like something that's going to sound equally as nice as the vibrant but that will not make the exhaust system look so strange. I would completelt agree that the Vibrant Exhaust System makes an excellent noise, but the look just really kills me, so many people make fun of it, and what's the point in putting all your money into something if people aren't going to find it eye appealing, right? Do you guys know of any nice catback exhaust systems out there that offer some nice bigtips but tuck close to the bumper for either an srt-4 or a dodge neon??

the r/t is pretty boring and if you customize the srt exhaust with a glass pack it does have a very cool tone and sound and looks really nice and is cheaper than most duals .I love the srt exhaust and the borla but for the cost and looks srt setup is highly recommanded . I get alot of nice compliments for my srt exhaust setup still sounds slighly mean . I also like lows on here he has the magnaflow dual exhaust not to bad in price but srt is the cheapest youll find .
