If you are looking for the long term life of your car then the porous thing we call a K&N air filter is not what you want. Get an AMSOIL EaA series air filter.
If you just want a cold air intake up out of the wheel well then get the FIPK series from K&N instead of the Typhoon Series. It has a block off shield in where the airbox sits now and keeps the filter inside the engine bay just about where it is now.
I just used a K&N Typhoon all winter here in Chicagoland with below 0 temperatures and Havoline Dino 10W-30 yup 10W-30 not 5W-30 and got FANTASTIC Used oil analysis results back.
